IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE NCAA STUDENT ATHLETES


Students who are wishing to play sports at the collegiate level must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Students should not register with the Clearinghouse until after the completion of their junior year of high school. All student-athletes in the graduating classes of 2012, 2013 and 2014 must complete 16 core courses in high school to be eligible to participate in NCAA Division I or Division II sports. Beginning with the class of 2008, student-athletes must complete 16 core courses in order to participate in NCAA Division I athletics; student-athletes must complete 16 core courses to participate in NCAA Division II athletics.

To view a list of core courses offered at Ypsilanti High School, go to
www.ncaaclearinghouse.net and click on Prospective Student-Athlete. Click on The List of Approved Core Courses. Enter Ypsilanti High School’s high school code, ______, and click submit. You should be able to view the list of approved core courses for our school.



NCAA Clearinghouse NEW requirements


Need to have 16 CORE Classes:
4-English
3-Math
2-Science
2-Social Studies
1-More class either Math or Science
4-Classes either Foreign Language or Philosophy

National Test Dates

In order to be considered a "QUALIFER" or take an "OFFICIAL VISIT" to any NCAA institution you must take one of the National Scholastic Achievement Test.  The sooner you take one of the TESTS, the BETTER!  Taking the test earlier allows NCAA institutions to expedite thier recruitment of you, and it gives you a chance to kow exactly where you stand academically.  BE SURE TO SEND YOUR TEST SCORES TO THE NCAA Eligibility Center!


All Juniors need to be signing up for the ACT and SAT test as soon as possible.

Registering with the NCAA Clearinghouse:

** Students should not register with the NCAA Clearinghouse until after the completion of their junior year in high school.

1.  Online Registration:

  • Go to the  clearinghouse

  • Click on Prospective Student-Athlete.

  • Click on Registration Form for U.S. Students (on left side of page)

  • Complete the form and include a credit card number.

Print out three copies of your completed form:

* Two (2) copies go to the Counseling Office so transcripts and test scores can be sent.
* One (1) copy should be kept for your own files.

2.  Paper Registration:

  • Go to www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

  • Click on Prospective Student-Athlete

  • Click on Registration Form for U.S. Students (on left side of page)

  • Click on “HERE” for printable PDF version of the form.

  • Print out and complete the form.

Make three (3) copies of the completed form:
* Mail the original form with your registration fee to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
* Two (2) copies go to the Counseling Office so transcripts and test scores can be sent.
* One (1) copy should be kept for your own files.
